MAYABAYU is a Borneon Tribal-Pop princess hailing from the coastal city of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Her music seamlessly fuses East Malaysian heritage and influences with electro-pop sensibilities. She is a finalist in the inaugural Levi's Music Project and her single 'O, Sayang' has garnered international recognition for its unique production and trilingual lyrics (Bahasa Malaysia, English and Kadazandusun). Maya’s mission in music is to preserve indigenous culture, and at the same time to revolutionise pop by adding a traditional twist. Her debut album, “Promised Land” is slated for release in July 2021 and is supported by CENDANA (Cultural Economy Development Agency).
